SPORTS MEDICINE AT NORTHWESTERN

Northwestern University's athletic teams receive the finest in medical care. A staff of six team physicians, a talented certified athletic training and physical therapy staff, and more than 25 medical specialty consultants tend to the medical and rehabilitation needs of all Wildcat student-athletes.

Northwestern's athletic training and physical therapy staff is led by Assistant Athletic Director, Director of Athletic Training Services, Tory Lindley, ATC. Additionally, the staff consists of eight staff athletic trainers, two physical therapist/certified athletic trainers, four certified intern athletic trainers, and over 20 students seeking careers in sports medicine.

The staff of physicians is led by Head Team Physician Dr. Carrie Jaworski, and includes Dr. Gregory Palutsis, Dr. Gregory Portland, Dr. Eric Chehab, Dr. Jon Englund, & Dr. Andrew Hunt.

The philosophy of the sports medicine staff at Northwestern is twofold: to help prevent injuries as much as possible through effective preventative programs, and to facilitate an effective post-injury rehabilitation program for a timely, safe return to competition. In all cases, the ultimate well-being of each student-athlete is considered the top priority, not only while athletes compete at Northwestern, but over their lifetimes as well.
