2008 Northwestern Field Hockey Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University announced its 2008 field hockey schedule, which is comprised of 10 games against teams that competed in the 2007 NCAA tournament.

The Wildcats open their season on the road facing Northeastern and Boston University before returning to their home turf to face Miami (Ohio) University and Sacred Heart. Following its two home openers, NU will once again hit the road for three consecutive away games facing Georgetown, American and the 2006 national champion: Maryland. Two home games against Saint Louis and Robert Morris follow before the `Cats open the Big Ten Conference schedule on the road at Michigan.

Four more out-of-conference games against California, Missouri State, Louisville and Wake Forest are to be played amidst the Big Ten Conference schedule.

The season closes at home against Indiana University, which will host this year's Big Ten Tournament from Nov. 6 through 9.

Northwestern will play one preseason game, a scrimmage vs. the University of Calgary, in Iowa City on Aug. 21.

The `Cats return five seniors and eight starters from last year's team, including U.S. Field Hockey High Performance Midwest Regional team selections Sarah Marcincin (Bethlehem, Pa/Blair Academy), Courtney Plaster-Strange (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky County Day), Alex Quinn (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) and Emily Kyle (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University HS).
