EVANSTON, Ill. - Bo Schultz (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park), who recently completed his senior season with the Northwestern baseball team, has signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Athletics' organization.

He will fly out to Phoenix, Ariz., this Sunday where he will report to the A's training facility along with the organization's other free agent invitees as well as their individuals selected in the recent first-year player draft.

A two-year member of the NU's baseball team, Schultz posted a 3-8 record and a 9.23 ERA his senior year. He ranked fourth on the team with nine starts and 14 appearances and was tied for third with 51.2 innings pitched.

Schultz's best effort of the 2008 season came April 5 in a 3-2 win over Michigan State during which he went all seven innings, scattering five hits while striking out a career-high six batters. He also earned the win in the Wildcats' 14-12 victory over then-No. 21 Oklahoma State March 1.
